You:
By the end of the first trimester it is not unusual to have put on around 2-3lbs. Internally, your uterus is starting to rise into the abdominal cavity, your midwife or doctor will be able to feel the top of it above the brim of your pelvis. Backache might be starting to get worse as your baby gets heavier, so avoid lifting anything too heavy. It also very normal to continue to be constipated, you will be retaining more water and also your hormones will have relaxed the intestines and bowel, making them less efficient.
Your Baby:
As you near the end of your first trimester your baby is now fully formed and will be beginning to suck his or her thumb! Baby will also have tiny toe and finger nails and separate fingers and toes. Some of your baby’s bones will be beginning to harden and his or her main task over the next six months will be to grow bigger and stronger.
