Week 12 of pregnancy (First Trimester)

You:

If you have suffered from morning sickness you’ll be pleased to hear that as you move into your 12th week of pregnancy it should start to lessen. The hormones which flood your body in the first weeks of pregnancy begin to level off meaning that you will start to feel better. If you are one of the unlucky ones, morning sickness may continue for a couple more weeks, but it will end eventually! Hitting the 12th week mark also means that you will gradually begin to feel less tired. Your metabolism will start to work more efficiently, meaning you have more energy and will be able to begin to really enjoy your pregnancy.

Your baby:

By 12 weeks, you have reached the end of the your first trimester, your chances have miscarriage will have significantly decreased and your baby will be beginning to play. Your baby will now be approximately 3 inches long, his or her face will also be beginning to change, the eyes, which started off on the sides of the head will have now moved closer together and the ears are nearly in their normal position. From 12 weeks the organs and tissues which formed in the first trimester begin to quickly mature. Your baby’s intestines will begin to move from their place, as a large swelling in the umbilical cord, into the abdominal cavity.
