Week 7 of pregnancy (First Trimester)

You:

Even if you don’t look pregnant, or feel any definite signs of pregnancy your uterus will be expanding to make space for your growing baby. Before pregnancy a woman’s uterus is the size of a clenched fist, this expands to the size of a grapefruit by your seventh week. You may feel some twinges or a bit of abdominal cramping during this time. You may also might experience constipation during this stage of pregnancy so make sure you eat lots of fibre and drinks lots of water. You might also continue to feel emotional and tired.

Your baby:

Your babies heart and brain will be becoming more complicated, the tip of the nose will be beginning to develop and eyelid folds will be forming. Up until this point in pregnancy your baby will have been attached to a yolk sac which has provided it with the nutrients it required. From this point on the sac will get absorbed and help to form the intestines, and the role of supplying the baby with nutrients will fall on the placenta, which will provide the baby with nutrition and oxygen from your body. Teeth will be beginning to form in the babies gums and taste buds on the tongue. The beginnings of your babies sexual and reproductive organs will also be starting to grow.
